Mission Xavier del Bac, also known as "The White Dove of the Desert".
Completed in 1797 when Arizona was still a territory of Spain, this beautiful building is still an active church serving the Catholic community on the Tohono O'odham Nation south of Tucson.
When you move slow, you notice things that you didn't see when you were in a hurry to "get around the next corner" in life. My outdoor friends call me "Old Slow Hans", and I notice things. In my selections here I try to depict the timeless patience of nature, to cast a focus on the dignity of things that have survived far beyond the flush of pink-cheeked youthfulness, and yes, sometimes to celebrate the transient beauty of a new flower bloom or the tantalizing dance of light and shadow on a striking landscape. The offering here is rather small to start. Bear with me as I sort through my work and share those pieces which are representative of what I'd display in my own home. Come back often to browse new additions. Enjoy. Old Slow...
