The old Spanish mission at Tumacacori. This old building, patiently spending centuries in the desert, resonates with my sense of the "aura of endurance" which characterized the peoples of this region.
When you move slow, you notice things that you didn't see when you were in a hurry to "get around the next corner" in life. My outdoor friends call me "Old Slow Hans", and I notice things. In my selections here I try to depict the timeless patience of nature, to cast a focus on the dignity of things that have survived far beyond the flush of pink-cheeked youthfulness, and yes, sometimes to celebrate the transient beauty of a new flower bloom or the tantalizing dance of light and shadow on a striking landscape. The offering here is rather small to start. Bear with me as I sort through my work and share those pieces which are representative of what I'd display in my own home.
